Broken Furniture Collection With Cracks And Breaks

The natural properties of wood are part of the 
design in Jalmari Laihinen’s Broken collection. Wood cracks, breaks and 
has defects, and Broken is an ongoing investigation into breaking wood. 
 Often pieces with imperfections are discarded as unwanted, but their 
value should be embraced as unique. That’s why the connecting parts, the
 legs of stools and tables for example, have been broken, showing 
splinters of wood at the points of rupture. Laihinen’s work combines 
cabinetmaking, carving and furniture design with the aim to produce playful, thought-provoking works. Would you dare to make a statement in your home with such furniture? </div>

Sculptural Furniture Collection That Ties The Knot

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Some artists can tame even the toughest materials 
and bend them at will, creating some of the most unique shapes and 
designs. We’ve already shared fantastic Why Knot table
 by artisan Kino Guerin, and today I’d like to continue this theme 
sharing the whole collection by this designer; there are benches, 
shelves and tables
 which feature smooth curves and look like they’ve been tied in a knot. 
The “Apple Table” is a piece with a versatile and multifunctional 
design, the “Simple Twist Shelf” seems to defy gravity with its artistic
 design, the “Nebula Table” sits perfectly level and stable and stands 
out with its knotted and twisted base and the “C Shelves” are the 
simplest of all the pieces but definitely not lacking style or 
functionality. Each of these sculptural pieces can make a statement in 
any room! </div>
