Sibirjak Lounge Chair And Ottoman Made From Birchbark

<div style="text-align: justify;"> Using a decades old Siberian handcraft, Russian designer Anastasiya Koshcheeva created a modern lounge <a href="http://www.kidsomania.com/palomas-nest-dollhouse-chair/">chair</a> made from birchbark. Birchbark is a natural material that’s flexible, durable, and strong, while also being water-repellent and antibacterial. Koshcheeva decided to reinterpret the tradition into a modern technique by using it for the material of the Sibirjak chair and <a href="http://www.shelterness.com/24-comfortable-diy-poufs-and-ottomans/">ottoman</a>. Koshcheeva combined the birchbark with a bold orange string that not only holds the material together, it gives it the modern touch it needs. The painted white beech plywood chair splits vertically and hinges open to reveal a small space on each side. The chair’s slanted arms become roof gables, while the divided hollow seat provides four ledges for placing tiny furniture. When split apart down the middle, the <a href="http://www.kidsomania.com/sweet-and-easy-diy-toy-cardboard-chair-for-a-kids-room/">chair</a> reveals the shape of a house with a red gable roof. Kids can play with their toys and stow them away with other small objects by shutting the chair closed once playtime is over.
